About the Fraserburgh Development Trust

Past Projects

The projects that the Fraserburgh Development Trust pursues will always represent and support their aims: they will be beneficial to the AB43 community and its economy. The Trust is already responsible for a number of projects that are helping local businesses, individuals and organisations thrive. For example, since we began operations in 2009, the main focus of the Fraserburgh Development Trust has been the Regeneration Fund Eyesore project.

The Regeneration Fund Eyesore Project

58A and 56 High Street, what is now the base for the Fraserburgh Development Trust and the Hub, was once a derelict and disused building, previously the Fraserburgh Football Social Club. It was a notable eyesore in the town centre; unpleasant to look at and a misuse of potentially valuable community space. The FDT recognised the buildings' potential and, with help from the Town Centre Regeneration Fund and Aberdeenshire Council, we were able to purchase and renovate the buildings into a base for community organisations and charities. The building is now home to Home Start, the UK's leading family support organisation; Choices, who provide pregnancy and family planning advice; and NHS Health Point, who offer free and confidential advice and information on various health issues. These three organisations will be of huge benefit to the AB43 community, and now have an affordable place to base themselves, thanks to the FDT's work.
